Welcome! Take a seat, grab your favorite blanket, cuddle in.

Let me tell you a story.

A pink heart-shaped Celtic knot design on a black background.

I had this wild and vivid set of dreams.

The first was about my dog. This might sound crazy, but I knew her before she was even born. What she looked like, what her personality was like, how she would make me feel. I can’t really explain why, but something told me I needed to find her.

And then months later, a friend showed me a picture of a puppy. The first time I saw her dark-brown eye-patch, and her mischievous little grin, it was like time stood still. I just knew we were meant for each other. Cliche, right? But I never believed in love at first sight until that moment.

The second was about a man. Dark curly hair. A deep Irish accent. Sheep herding and Border Collies. I wasn’t given much, just glimpses.

I felt this urge to breathe life into a story about a girl, a dog, and the man. Once I started, it was kind of like the characters took the wheel. I was simply the conduit, and they made all the decisions.

And that’s how my first book came to be.

Come By | Querying right now

A contemporary sports romance set in the world of competitive sheep herding by Bridget Cary.

“Come by”: to obtain or acquire something (often with effort or difficulty); or, in a herding context, a command for the dog to arc clockwise around the sheep.

COME BY introduces Emma Little, a rookie dog handler navigating unexpected obstacles in order to keep her heart-dog.

Author

Bridget Cary (She/Her): I’m a debut novelist and hobby-farm owner, currently working full-time with a dream of pursuing my passion for writing unusual love in unique backdrops. Being a diabadass (type 1 diabetic) has fundamentally shaped my worldview and made me the person I am today. You’ll often find me advocating for people with disabilities and gently educating people about the financial and mental/emotional cost of living with an invisible chronic illness.

I love people and people’s stories and backgrounds. I’m curious about the world I live in and think a lot about how to be a better person, a better friend, a better feminist, a better steward.

I like to think of myself as a high-functioning introvert, and while I enjoy people a great deal, sitting on a horse with a good book recharges my soul.

My husband and I live in Wisconsin with our dogs, cats, chickens, goat, horse and llama.
